- Q. Do you use chemicals to peel your apples?

A. Mott's does not use any chemicals to peel or process our apples. We only use conventional mechanical technology for processing.
- Q. How long can you store Mott's products in the refrigerator?

A. Mott's 100% juices and sauces do not contain preservatives, so they must be refrigerated after opening. Opened containers should be consumed in seven to ten days.

- Q. Is Mott's apple juice pasteurized?

A. Yes, and because we know that this is an important subject for our consumers, we have included "pasteurized" on our label so they will be able to check for themselves at the time of purchase. At Mott's, we believe that our primary responsibility is to produce wholesome products that are good for the entire family. As such, we take many precautions to ensure that our products are safe for our consumers.

- Q. Does your 100% apple juice contain any added sugar?

A. No, we have not added any sugar to our 100% apple juice. The grams of sugar displayed on the label come mainly from fructose, a sugar found naturally in fruits.
- Q. What equals a fruit serving?

A. According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Guide Pyramid, six ounces of 100% apple juice equals one fruit serving.
- Q. What is the "Added Ingredient" in Mott's apple juice?

A. We add Vitamin C to our apple juice to replace what is lost during manufacturing and provide you with the benefits associated with consuming this antioxidant. With this nutrient added, our 100% apple juice contains 20% of your daily needs for Vitamin C. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires us to label our front panel with the phrase "With Added Ingredient". This statement is used to help explain that there has been an addition to our 100% juice.

Mott's apple sauce
- Q. How long can I keep the Mott's apple sauce in plastic cups in my kitchen cupboard before they spoil?

A. Depending on the flavor you purchased, Mott's single-serve apple sauce will stay fresh for 9 to 12 months before opening. But remember, once the cup is opened, any leftovers must be refrigerated.
- Q. Are Mott's apple sauces milk, dairy and peanut free?

A. Yes, they are.
- Q. How do you make apple sauce Kosher for Passover?

A. Invert sugar the sweetener used in the sauce during this season is a sucrose that's been inverted. The reason for this sweetener instead of high fructose corn syrup is that no corn products or derivatives are allowed during Passover. The product tastes the same, the sweetness is the same, it's just that it's derived from a different source.

- Q. Is apple sauce pasteurized?

A. Apple sauce is a cooked product. FDA regulations state that all apple sauce products MUST be processed by heat, either before or after sealing to prevent spoilage. A non-pasteurized apple sauce is not permitted to be marketed, so there is no need to state "pasteurized" on the label.
